About Us

We are not just domestic violence survivors. We are mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, neighbors, wives, and coworkers.

Armor Up Sister is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports women in their journey to reclaim their lives after surviving domestic violence. Founded by a domestic violence survivor who understands both the arduous journey and the extensive healing process after escaping domestic violence, Armor Up Sister walks alongside survivors as community and support to help them regain confidence and establish freedom and independence from their abusers. Rooted in the principles and the promises of the Armor of God, our goal is to empower women to turn pain into triumph, and trauma into victory by helping them to stand. This ultimately comes from a transformation that only God can provide, so we offer Bible studies, events for healing, and self-care assistance.

Providing Self-Care

To promote self-care to boost self-confidence, we are partnered with local salons to provide services that allow women to once again feel good about themselves, simply because they deserve it and this is essential in the healing process. We also recognize the significance of professional appearance in the workplace, and therefore, we offer assistance in acquiring professional clothing for women.

Home Security

We understand the importance of feeling safe in one’s own home and the ability to rest. A home should feel like a safe place to retreat, but the ability to rest often seems insurmountable to DV survivors. Armor Up Sister offers safeguards for women through partnerships with self-defense programs and through providing security cameras for homes.

Financial Counseling

Financial independence is also crucial for survivors of abuse, many of whom were denied access to work or financial resources. Armor Up Sister is partnered with a local bank to provide budget counseling to help educate survivors to become more independent while effectively managing their finances. We also offer further educational opportunities for both the community as a whole and domestic violence survivors. This is through church training and domestic violence conferences.

And to build community and utilize available resources, we connect domestic violences victims and survivors with other supporting agencies and gift cards for emergency expenses.
